Cookies in a Jar
A Recipe Gift

Tired of looking for the perfect gift for the person who has everything? Why not give them their favorite cookies in a jar. I don't mean cookies, actually, I mean the ingredients to make their own batch of cookies. Besides, who doesn't like cookies, better yet, the smell of fresh baked cookies. This way they can enjoy fresh baked cookies long after the holidays are over.

This book is filled with recipes to make your own gifts. Each mix fits into a quart jar. The book even includes tags complete with recipient directions with each recipe. Just cut it out, personalize and attach to the jar. Fun to make and affordable! "Gifts in a Jar" are great gifts!

Any cookie recipe can be used for this gift. Pick your favorite or if you know their favorite make that one. Just remember, dry ingredients only. Most cookie recipes will fit into a quart size canning jar, but you are not limited to jars. You can use a variety of containers for your mix. These include bags, boxes, tins, baskets, mixing bowls, pans, or any other container you can imagine.

There are two ways to assemble the ingredients, the strata or layered look and the toss it in. The strata method limits your choice of container to a clear glass jar, so that each ingredient is layered separately and distinctively. The toss it in method is much easier and can be placed into any container you desire. You can even make it a baking kit, along with the mix, include a cookie sheet, measuring spoons and cups, a wooden spoon, a mixing bowl and a timer. Also, include a card with the remaining ingredients needed and the directions for finishing the recipe. If you are giving a mix, such as gingerbread, that requires that the cookies be cut out of the dough, include a cookie cutter.

These mixes will keep for up to six months, if stored in a cool and dry place. If the mix has nuts, then you should use them within three months. Remember nothing says love like the gift of food.
