Fruitcakes for the Holidays!



I don't know about you, but one of my favorite treats over the Christmas Holiday Season is a traditional fruitcake.

There are all kinds of fruitcakes, with recipes handed down from generation to generation. Bakeries worldwide specialize in preparing these delicious morsels, and produce them year-round. But they're enjoyed particularly over the holidays. They're normally shipped in highly-decorative and collectible tins.

Many fruitcake fans feel they're better aged, and even saturate them with alcoholic beverages.

Of course you can bake your own, but the standard recipe with candied fruit and nuts is my favorite, and its lovingly made at the Collin Street Bakery. Its a family-owned-and-operated business, just 50 miles south of Dallas, Texas. They've been baking their world-famous DeLuxe Fruitcake for over 100 years.

Many other bakeries, however, offer mail order service, as well. Just be sure you get you order in early for the Christmas Season!
