Hurricane Katrina, still a Category 5 storm, is a scary situation for millions of Gulf Coast residents, as New Orleans and Biloxi are already feeling the impact of the wide bands of this catastrophic storm.

Forecasters expect Katrina's right front quandrant to produce the largest storm surge and be responsible for the most tornadic activity.

As of this writing, the coast is being slammed by tropical storm force winds, with tornado warnings issued for several areas, particularly Louisiana Parishes.

During the early morning hours, this activity is expected to continue. Inland impact is just hours away, as Katrina's core of destruction unleashes its deadly and damaging wrath upon the area.

National Weather Service reports indicate 33 foot waves near Dolpin Island, off Mobile, Alabama.

I-10 contnues to be backlogged as an evacuation route, with emergency officials concerned motorists may be caught in the storm.

Hurricane Katrina is, indeed, an historic, catastrophic, and deadly storm.
