Reagan Turns 93
Its not "breaking news," but I feel the need to make a few comments. Former President Ronald Reagan turned 93 years old on Friday. He is the longest-living U.S. President. In my opinion, he's one of the last "Great American Statesmen."
Around 10 years ago, it was disclosed he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. That is very sad, indeed.
I first met Mr. Reagan at a very small news conference in Houston, Texas, as he was on the campaign trail for president.
He was introduced to us by performer Wayne Newton, who was in town for a show. Wayne was a very gracious host. Reagan was flanked by his wife, Nancy, a very classy lady, to say the least. While meeting with us, I recall Mr. Reagan as a very friendly man, with a great sense of humor.
Happy Birthday, Mr. President.
