Do Blogs Impact Impact Political News?

I see that many major new orgaizations are taking Blogging rather seriously. Well done! Bloggers were reporting from the floor of the recent Presidential Conventions, and have outdone themselves in covering the political arena, overall, for 2004.

A story on CNN, today, has recognized Blogging and its impact on politics. One Blogger, Ana Marie Cox (Wonkette!), was quoted as saying that Blogs have made it more difficult for mainstream news organizations "to sit on a story."

A university's journalism professor reportedly has urged Bloggers to follow the same standards held by mainstream journalists.

To a degree I disagree with that. Obviously, Blogs are made up, mainly, of commentary, and the writter's slant on any given issue. YES, we have to be RESPONSIBLE in our reporting of so-called "facts," but Blogs are highly individual.

If we were "mainstream," you wouldn't be here reading this, you'd be watching television, LOL. Besides, Bloggers have the unique opportunity to bring you information that you probably wouldn't find out about with a diet of "mainstream" media.

Are we "journalists?" Heck yes! I was a mainstream professional one for 30+ years, but that doesn't make me any more important than the guy/gal who's had no experience, and just wants to rant and rave. The internet gives YOU a whole world to voice your opinions and views. Readers are aware of that. Thank YOU for reading! For other Bloggers: Thank you for Blogging!
