So Long Captain Kangaroo

We've sadly lost another television icon. Bob Keeshan, 76, passed away after a long illness. To be honest, I thouhght he was much older, as I remember, as children, we'd huddle around the black and white TV set to watch our beloved "Captain Kangaroo." The show premiered in 1955 (Yes, I was glued to the picture tube in the early days). It ran on CBS until 1985. It won six Emmys and three Peabodys, and featured such noteables as the puppets: Bunny Rabbit and Mr. Moose. The Captain's side-kick, Mr. Green Jeans (Hugh Brannum), passed on, I believe, in 1987. It was a simple show, in simpler times. Yes, Bob Keeshan will be sadly missed, but Captain Kangaroo lives on in our heats and memories.
