Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream" 40th Anniversary
One of my all-time favorite trumpet players is Herb Alpert. He had a style that I could never duplicate, although I wasn't much of a trumpeter, LOL.
His group, The Tijuana Brass, made bank on an album called, "Whipped Cream & Other Delights," back in the mid 60's. I almost can't believe its been that long ago, and a 40th Anniversay Edition is being released.
One of its instrumentals, "A Taste of Honey," was a big success. The album cover featured a rather "naughty" photo (for its time). By the way, I still have the original LP. It stayed at number one on the hit charts for eight weeks.
