Mars and America's Space Program
President Bush has announced that humans are going back to the Moon, then on to Mars, in a revitalization of America's Space Program. Having lived in the days of the old Mercury Capsule and America's Hero Astronauts, this seems like a good idea (at face value). Besides, it would be refreshing to see a renewed interest
in manned space travel, as well as, perhaps, put scientisis back in control of NASA, instead of beurocrats and bean counters.
Bush's announcement came during the course of several un-manned missions to Mars: A couple of U.S. Rovers, the European Mars Express, and the deceased British Beagle2.
I've always been fascinated by outer space, and have been somewhat of an amateur astronomer. During Mars' close pass to Earth, last year, I even dusted off my old telescope for several observations.
If you'd like to learn some "telecope basics," I've an article in my online database.
