Garlic Smasher Basher

Well, its probably time I wrote an entry about cooking, my favorite topic.

I'm like that chef on Food TV, Emeril. I gotta cook darned near everything with garlic, LOTS of garlic!

For years, I used a garlic press, but I wasn't particularly satisfied. Then, I stumbled across a fantastic kitchen tool. I first saw Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet, using it. Its called a Smasher Basher, I guess, but it kind of looks like a pastry tool. Kerr even markets one, adorned with his "signature."

Anyway, you place a clove of garlic on your cutting board, hold the flat side of the Smasher Basher down on it, and whack it with the palm of your hand. Remove the peel, and use the sharp edge of the tool to chop, dice, or mince your garlic. Its also a handy device to scoop up the pieces, and slide them into your pot, pan, or bowl.

I've used mine for all sorts of kitchen tasks.
