Tennessee's Apple Crop Drops
Citrus crops in Floria have been hard hit, of course, due to the hurricanes, but that's not the only fruit not fairing well over the summer months.
East Tennessee farmers say the summer's rainfall resulted in poor apple crops. Its predicted at about 10 million pounds. That's down 1.5 million pounds from last year.
Tennessee farmers produce several varieties of apples for both cooking and eating, including Grimes Golden, Golden Delicious, Braeburn, Empire, and McIntosh. Harvest season runs from August through October.
