"Freighter Surfing" - The Latest Craze!



Surfers off Texas' Gulf Coast have always been plagued with a lack of big waves. Let face it, when it comes to riding the tube, there's just not much to get excited about.

But there's a new craze: Freighter Surfing! Big oil tankers, apparently, create a wake in the shallow Houston Ship Channel that can last for miles.

Some Freighter Surfers have this down to a science. They look for loaded tankers, study shipping lanes, and even hull designs, in their quest for the perfect wave.
